Terms of Service

PlaceFinder is a consumer mobile application that lets you:

• explore places on a map and search for places;
• view place details (including third-party place information such as ratings, photos, phone, and website when available);
• save places, organize collections, write reviews, and check in;
• follow other users and view public profiles / collections;
• plan trips, invite friends (including via link, QR, contacts, or email), and manage trip stops;
• download offline map regions;
• receive notifications related to the product (when permitted);
• manage account and privacy settings, including account deletion.

Some features may be incomplete, experimental, or unavailable in your region or on your device. Features marked incomplete in our product roadmap may change or be removed.

Deep links such as placefinder://… (and accepted legacy schemes) may open specific content in the app when installed.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use PlaceFinder. If you use PlaceFinder on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Phone OTP sign-in is currently limited to Cambodia numbers (+855). Other sign-in methods (email, Google, Apple) may be available depending on platform configuration.

You are responsible for:

• providing accurate registration information;
• keeping your login credentials confidential;
• activity under your account.

You may create an account with email and password, phone OTP, or Google / Apple Sign-In where enabled. You must verify your email when required.

You may sign out at any time. You may delete your account in Settings. Deletion removes or de-identifies associated personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, subject to legal and operational limits.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that create risk for other users or the service.

“Your Content” includes text, photos, reviews, check-ins, collections, trip details, profile information, and other material you submit.

You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content solely as needed to operate and improve PlaceFinder (including sharing features you use, such as public profiles, shared collections, trip invites, and share previews).

You represent that you have the rights to submit Your Content and that it does not infringe others’ rights or violate law.

We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful, illegal, or abusive.

You agree not to:

• harass, threaten, or impersonate others;
• post unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, or infringing content;
• scrape, reverse engineer, or abuse APIs, edge functions, or rate limits beyond normal app use;
• attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data;
• use PlaceFinder to spam invites, notifications, or messages;
• upload malware or interfere with the service;
• use the service for emergency response, professional navigation liability, or life-critical decisions as if it were a certified safety system.

PlaceFinder provides map and place information for convenience. Always use judgment when traveling; road, opening-hours, and place data may be inaccurate or outdated.

PlaceFinder may request access to:

• Location — map and nearby features;
• Notifications — push and local alerts;
• Contacts — trip invite picker;
• Camera / photos — avatar, review photos, QR scan;
• Network — sync and maps.

You can deny or revoke permissions in device Settings. Some features will not work without them. Exact location is not shared with other users as a live social signal (see Privacy Policy).

Trip invites, follows, reviews, and shared collections are tools for coordinating with people you choose. You are responsible for whom you invite and what you share. Recipients may need a PlaceFinder account to fully participate.

QR codes, invite links, and share previews may reveal trip or collection metadata to anyone who opens them. Share carefully.

PlaceFinder relies on third parties, including Supabase, Mapbox, Google (including Places-related data and optional Sign-In), Apple, Firebase, and OTP delivery providers. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services.

Place listings, ratings, photos, and business details may come from third-party sources. We do not guarantee completeness or accuracy. Links to phone numbers, websites, or directions open external apps or sites we do not control.

App Store and Google Play terms also apply to distribution and purchases (if any). PlaceFinder may offer “Rate the App” links to those stores.

PlaceFinder, including its branding, UI, and software (excluding Your Content and third-party content), is owned by Mr. Samnang Chhuon or its licensors. You receive a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the app except as allowed by law or written permission.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that maps, routes, place data, offline packs, notifications, or social features will be uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Mr. Samnang Chhuon AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF PLACEFINDER.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (IF ANY) OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

You agree to defend and indemnify Mr. Samnang Chhuon against claims arising from Your Content, your misuse of PlaceFinder, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, to the extent permitted by law.

We may update PlaceFinder and these Terms. Material changes will be posted at https://placefinder.io/terms with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where additional consent is required.

You may stop using PlaceFinder and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or stop providing the service, or terminate access for violations or risk. Provisions that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, liability limits) will survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of The Kingdom of Cambodia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Phnom Penh will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer protection law gives you mandatory rights in your home country.
