Guide

Maps that still work when signal does not.

Download regions ahead of time so the map, your saves, and your trip stay usable offline.

Download before you leave coverage

Open offline maps in PlaceFinder and choose regions you will need — a city centre, a coast, a trail corridor. Downloads show progress and size so you can decide what fits on the device before you go.

Do this on Wi‑Fi. Offline packs are for travel days when roaming is expensive or mountains eat your signal, not for browsing the whole planet at once.

What stays available offline

Cached saved places and trips remain readable when you are offline. That means the café you starred last night and the weekend itinerary you built with friends are still there when the map tiles come from the pack instead of the network.

Some live social surfaces still need connectivity. Treat offline as navigation and memory for your own library — then sync when you are back online.

Pair offline with good saves

Offline is only as useful as what you saved beforehand. Bookmark places into Saved or a collection, build the trip, then download the region that covers those stops.

PlaceFinder for Android is free on Google Play. Read the Features page for the full offline and notification list, including the weekly local digest and in-app inbox.
